16 days activism against GBV. Day 16, International Human Rights day

Today the 10th of December 2021, marks the end of the 16 days activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV). It is an annual and international celebration that usually kicks off from the 25th of November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women), to the 10th of December (International Human Rights Day). Human rights open the doors for us to speak up when we experience any form of abuse and corruption. we all as humans have the rights to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to education and work. What baffles me is, why should girls and women be victims of every circumstance because of their gender which is considered as weak? What crime have we committed in being girls that we have to go through all forms of violence? Our opinions do not count and our bodies are not respected as we undergo domestic and sexual violence. we go through pains! of female genital mutilation and breast ironing everyday, we cry tears of blood every second yet no one seems to care. To everyone reading this, put in mind that the girl child matters, her voice is our equal future. Think of a bright future without the girl child then you think of nothing at all. Let every girl out there seize crying in the rain, do not loose hope in fighting till we get our rights as humans and as women because the girl child is a leader, a heroine and a savior. She is a helper, a precious gem and the future. Help advocate for human rights, high and quality education for the girl child and for girls and women rights. Your voice can cause a change.
