YOU OUGHT TO KNOW THAT FOODS MADE BY YOU ARE SAFER AND TASTIER๐
I know that feeling when you badly need a simple snack but you cannot have one. At times you actually feel like you should have a bite of something tasty. We all have that feeling, if not often then once in a while. My fellow Cameroonians will complain that at some points oil is expensive, making frying difficult.๐๐๐คฃ. Some even go as far as throwing jokes, saying anyone frying at that moment is a ritualist, as they wonder where he got oil. Very funny I know, but true since the stress of frying becomes so unbearable. Why not try baking? Baking is a method of preparing food that uses dry heat, typically in an oven. Awesome right?
Now let me tell you a little something about myself. I loved frying and baking right from my childhood. My mom understood this and made sure I never lacked the basic items needed, from flour to sugar, baking powder, butter etc. I grew up baking and frying all sort of things and even giving some names๐. Without an oven, you could bake traditionally which involves a flat bottom pot and few cocks of beer. Use your gas or stove and set it to almost if not the lowest fire. Leave the pot to heat up along side the cocks then put in your baking pan which is half full, allowing the batter space to rise. Cover and set the timing based on what you are baking. There is also moist baking which I will explain in my next post if you are interested.๐
In this post , I will tell you how to make swiss rolls
A swiss roll is a cylindrical cake with a spiral cross section, made from a flat sponge cake spread with a filling such as jam and rolled up.
Looks beautiful and tasty right? Pauline school offer you one like above but even more tastier because you will do it yourself and in your kitchen๐. Check the below recipe for a roll that is perfect both for a cozy evening with your family and as a gift.
Ingredients: 200g egg white, 100g egg yolks, 50g sugar(1), pinch of salt, 90g flour, 2g baking powder, 50g vegetable oil, 50g milk, 70g sugar(2)
Procedure: Beat the yolks with sugar(1) and salt until white. Sift the flour with baking powder. Mix the oil with the milk. whisk the egg whites with sugar (2). You have made a meringue
Gently mix the beaten yolks with it. Then mix part of the mass with the milk-butter mixture and then combine it with the main mass. Sift the dry ingredients and gently combine everything until smooth. pour into the mold.
This amount of batter was enough for us to fill a 35x25 centimeter mold. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius for 15-20 mins. Let it cool a bit. Spread the filling of your choice and roll it.
